Our aim is to provide a safe, friendly and relaxed atmosphere in which pre-school children can gain the educational and social skills necessary to achieve their full potential.

We are open 2 full days and three mornings per week for 3 to 5 year olds and also offer the “Tweenies” toddler sessions on Thursday mornings for accompanied children aged 0-3.  We have a highly dedicated staff of 10 who work under the supervision of Gill Curtis who administers to the groups day-to-day needs.

The playgroup is a committee run registered charity, led by our chairlady Karen Smith. The committee, made up of parents and staff, organises fundraising and the general running of the playgroup.

As an educational and care facility we conform to rigorous Ofsted inspections.  In our most recent Ofsted Combined Inspection, which looked at both the education offered and the quality of care given, in October 2003 the hard work put in by the staff was recognised in the report, which stated we are  “warm, friendly and welcoming for both parents and children” and that we offer “excellent play and learning opportunities”. It was also noted that “there is a sensitive and consistent approach to managing unacceptable behaviour, and the staff are excellent role models for the children”.

In addition we have also put ourselves through the Pre-School Learning Alliance Accreditation Scheme “Aiming for Quality” which looks at almost 300 areas covering education, care, parental involvement and involvement in the community. The scheme took just over 9 months to complete and we were approved under the terms of the scheme in December 2004 as providing quality care.

We are registered to take a maximum of 26 children each session and currently have a register of 40 children who attend over the week.  If you have any queries about the playgroup please contact Gill Curtis or Karen Smith.
