St. Osyth Methodist Church offers a warm welcome to all members of the family. “Services are held every Sunday at 10.30 a.m. except for the 4th Sunday of the month when we join in a United Service with the Parish Church.”
Our Church is part of Churches together in St. Osyth, meaning Christian Churches working and worshipping together.
|The Ecclesiastical Survey of 1841 showed 300 ‘dissenters’ within the village, which at that time must have represented a fair proportion of the total population. The present Chapel was built in 1853 on land given to the community by the owner of Priory Cottage and enabled proper provision to be made for Methodists of that time.
| “We have some new groups associated with our Church and hold a variety of fundraising and community events. Apart from our Sunday Service at 10.30am, the Girls’ Club meets every Friday at 7pm. Starting on May 22nd we will be holding a ‘Messy Church’ event every month. All are welcome, particularly young families, for an afternoon/evening of hands-on activities, music, arts and crafts, prayer and a free supper.
Look out for further information on the notice board. We will also be holding a ‘Hymn Playing Marathon’ in June to raise funds and during the summer we will be doing afternoon teas. Please look out for dates and times. We hope to have our doors open a lot more during the warmer weather and so please come by to have a look inside our historical Methodist chapel with original architectural features. You are always sure of a warm welcome.
Our church is now on Facebook and if you are so-minded please have a look at our page to find out more about us. There are also various other activities, the times and dates of which are displayed on the Church notices.
