GOV.UK Launches Business Support Tool


In recent weeks GOV.UK has announced a wide range of support and funding packages for businesses and the self employed, and have now launched an ‘interactive tool’ to help businesses navigate their options and determine their eligibility for support.

Government Business Grants in Tendring

Tendring District Council has been working hard to allocate the grant funding from the Government to eligible businesses in the district and to date over 1,900 businesses have received a share of over £21 million, with the Business Rates Team still processing applications and releasing funds every day. 

These are business grants which do not need to be paid back. TDC would like to hear from any business which may be eligible.

Business Support from BEST Growth Hub


BEST Growth Hub offers a completely free and impartial service, signposting businesses to both local and national support where this is available.  Along with other agencies, BEST Growth Hub are trying to ensure that business owners and the self-employed are aware of all the financial and business support packages being made available as part of the country’s response to the COVID-19 emergency.

FREE Webinars to help your Business


In partnership with the Growth Hubs of Business East Sussex and New Anglia, Haven Gateway Partnership has scheduled a variety of free webinars to provide immediate business support, as well as some sessions which look to the future.

Topics include:
  • How to Write (Rewrite) Your Business Plan
  • Planning for Your Post COVID-19 Strategy
  • Enhancing Your Operations and Processes
Each session will take place on Zoom and include a business briefing with key speakers. Online chat will aid interactivity, with the chance for Q&As throughout the session. The webinars will last no longer than an hour, with the presentation element lasting for 30-40 minutes.

Support for the Creative & Cultural Sectors

Arts Council England have launched a tailored support package for freelancers and self- employed people in the Creative & Cultural sectors to apply for grants of up to £2,500 to support them through this difficult period. A total of £20 million has been made available over 2 rounds of applications – one round remains open with a deadline of 27th April.

Support for the Heritage Sector


Historic England has launched an emergency fund of up to £2 million to help tackle the impact of Coronavirus on the heritage sector.

The Fund invites applications from heritage organisations, self-employed contractors, third-sector organisations and voluntary groups, with grants of up to £25,000 to address financial difficulties arising from Coronavirus and up to of £50,000 for projects and activities that reduce risks to heritage by providing information, resources and skills.

The fund is designed to complement the measures already put in place by the Government, as well as the National Lottery Heritage Fund’s recently announced £50million emergency fund. 

The deadline for new applications is midnight on 3rd May 2020 and the funding for successful applications will be awarded from mid-May.
